In this scenario, an increasingly united ASEAN makes fundamental changes to how it integrates it’s economy, military and political systems, erasing all borders to increase trade similar to the European Union, conducting joint military exercises, establishing an ASEAN joint task force with it’s own emblems, flag and uniforms, and starts building it up, seeking more trade with the Middle East and South America, and it bands together to challenge Chinese influence in Indochina and disrupt Chinese trade routes to India, Africa and the Americas. A naval blockade quickly turns into a skirmish which turns into an all out war in the South China Sea.
